FAQs

Here are the answers to the common questions about our place. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to your visit.

You can book your room here.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Please see our policies page for the answers to this and other related questions.

Q: How close are you to Zion National Park?

A: The park is right behind our house, just a few hundred yards away. The entrance to the park is 5 miles from us, or about 10 minutes of driving time.

Q: Do you offer internet access to guests?

A: Yes, our guests can enjoy a free Wi-Fi access to the Internet. We will give you the login information when you check-in.

Q: Is there cell phone coverage at the house?

A: It depends on the network you belong to: some networks such as T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, or Tracfone work here well, while others have little to no reception. Please contact your wireless phone service provider to determine whether they service our area.

Q: How big is Rockville, Utah?

A: Rockville is a quiet little town right next to Springdale. It is a bedroom community of about 250 residents, and unlike Springdale, there is no commercial activity here. If you want to stay in a true country-style town, away from commercial noise and crowd, Rockville is the perfect choice.

Q: Where is the nearest restaurant?

A: There are no restaurants in Rockville (no commercial activity is allowed here), but if you drive about 2 miles east on the Highway 9, towards Springdale and Zion Park entrance, you will find a great variety of restaurants: American, Mexican, Chinese, pizzerias, bars, and so on. Ten to 15 minutes west to the towns of Virgin, La Verkin, or Hurricane are wonderful restaurants too.

Q: How close are you to the highway?

A: Our “highway” is not what suburban residents might expect: it’s just a two-lane paved road, which is actually the only road of Rockville. Most houses of Rockville are close to it, including ours. Trucks are not allowed to go through Zion Park tunnel, so they don’t use our road. There is some traffic during the day, as the Zion Park visitors use the road, but it all gets very quiet at night.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: We accept all major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express. Debit cards will be charged the total balance upon check-in. We do accept cash as payment (US dollars only) with a credit card on file.

Q: What are the check-in and check-out times?

A: Check-in is at 4:00pm (16:00) and Check-out is at 10:00 am. Please see our policies page for updated information related to these questions.

Q: What time is breakfast served?

A: We serve breakfast between 7:00am and 9:30am. For those guests that want to leave earlier we provide a Grab 'n Go breakfast. Times may be adjusted seasonally.

Q: What if I have special dietary needs/preferences?

A: Please let us know at the time of the reservation about any dietary needs or restrictions that you have and we will do our best to accommodate. We do cater our meals to gluten free, dairy free, vegan, and vegetarian. If you require special dietary items not sold at the regular food stores, it’s better to bring them with you to be sure you would have them available.

Q: Is your home wheel-chair accessible?

A: Sorry, we are ADA exempt, as we are a small establishment with less than five rooms. However, there are other places to stay in our area. Please feel free to call us and we may help you find a room for you in another establishment.

Q: May I smoke in the room or house?

A: Sorry, you cannot. The Utah Indoor Clean Air Act prohibits smoking of any kind (including vaping) inside any building. We do not allow smoking in the room or anywhere in the house. You may smoke on the porch by the ash tray, however. Smoking inside is subject to a $300 cleaning fee.

Q: Is there air conditioning in the house?

A: We have central air conditioning in the house.

It is regulated by a smart thermostat with temperature sensors in each room to keep it at a comfortable temperature. There are extra blankets in each room if you are too cold or ceiling fans if you are too warm.

Q: Do you allow small children as guests?

A: We love children, unfortunately, our insurance policy does not allow us to have guests under the age of eight. There are other lodging facilities in our area which do accept families with children.

Please contact us and we may help you find a suitable place to stay.

Q: Do you allow pets in the house?

A: No, we don’t accept guests with pets, as our insurance policy does not allow pets. If you do want to bring a pet with you, Canyon Paws boards animals (for an additional fee) while you are staying with us or visiting the park (Pets are not allowed on the park trails either!).

Q: Who are the hosts?

A: We are the Garth and Heather Tyler. We are excited to have you come stay with us. You can read about our backgrounds on our About Us page.
